Trainsignal 2.0… The Consensus??

As some of you know, Trainsignal has recently changed their business model to a monthly subscription fee which gives you access to ALL of their training videos. This is HUGE for the average Do-It-Yourself kind of IT guy (or girl) who could only afford maybe a single training per year! I immediately decided to give the new Trainsignal site a try. Here are some of the things I did:

  • Logged into the new website (Great design guys!)

  • Looked through the many courses that are offered

  • Downloaded the new Offline Player and logged in

  • Once I logged in I was able to select the courses (or specific lessons from courses) to add to my offline player

  • Once a lesson completed downloading, I went ahead and watched it.

I’ve got to say, I’m very impressed with what they’ve done. The offline player gives you several options such as a 30-second rewind and a 1.5x speed for those parts that you might decide to go through quickly. The videos downloaded fast and I had no problems with the player.

Even though I am at my desk all day long I found I enjoy the offline player much more than watching directly on the site, so I downloaded several courses to watch over the next few days.

The only thing I do not care for that maybe can be changed in an upcoming version is that adding content to the offline player lets you add either bookmarked lessons, or courses (this is good, the negative is coming) the problem when selecting through a course is that ALL THE COURSES ARE LISTED TOGETHER. Although they are in alphabetical order I would like to see a grouping/filter ability like on the website to choose specifically “VMware” or “Microsoft” etc.

I am giving this two thumbs up and I know many other people are now signing up because at $50/month, the cost/benefit for individuals is huge! Thank you Trainsignal!

For those of you who would like to give it a shot for a month, you can click the picture below and it will take you to the sign-up page:
